FAUX TURKISH TILES

This is my "Turkish tile" storage area just below the ceiling; it is decoupage with a porcelain crackle finish, which makes the whole thing appear to be real tiles. I blew up and printed antique tiles from a card that friends bought in Istanbul, then glued them down to the thin wooden doors of the cabinets. I plan to do the whole area eventually, so that it will look like a bit of the Alhambra. A tip for faux tile: use striping tape over the "grout" lines before you apply the crackle finish. Art supply stores sell masking tape as thin as an eighth of an inch. It makes the tiles look real even from close up. It is a great effect that anyone could do.
