Ruined Palazzo, Venice The young, grouchy gondolier said this was once the home of Marco Polo, though the guidebooks were clear that the house he died in was torn down. It was near where the old Polo house once stood, and it was still a magnificent ruin. One holds one's breath when passing under such a fragile edifice, though I particularly wished for a jolly older gondolier who loves his work. A single ride is quite expensive.
